A little over two years ago in May 2022, when Michael Bloomberg opened the first Bloomberg New Economy Gateway conference outside of Asia here in Panama City, he did not come because of our beaches, our mountains, our stock market, or our tourist sites.

He came because Panama is at the heart of the Western Hemisphere, the land bridge between two great continents, the water bridge between two great oceans, and a major link on the global "cyber highway".  With the Panama Canal, the world's second-largest Free Trade Zone (second only to Hong Kong), a main "trunk line" of the Internet passing through the nation, a rapidly growing major airport, and more, there is a reason why Panama now has the highest per-capita GDP (national income) of any nation in Latin America.

But Panama is about more than business and money.  It is about democracy, stability, friendly people, beach communities, mountain communities, a capital city with all the amenities you expect from the best health care to the best entertainment, and a tropical climate that provides the best coffee in the world and breaking all records this year selling for more than $10,000 per kilo! That’s $4,425 per pound and remember, those are wholesale prices, not retail.  Panama is small, but it lives large!

Panama is home for people from all over the world.  It is a dynamic economy that attracts many, but also a peaceful haven from the violence that is found in so many other nations.  As a place to grow or a place to relax, Panama has room for you too!
